TURKEY HUNTS
EASTERN, RIO'S, MERRIAM'S
KANSAS -OKLAHOMA -TEXAS
-NEBRASKA
Bird-N-Buck
offers a wide selection of Turkey hunts to satisfy just about anyone's
addiction to Turkey hunting. Whether you are trying to get your slam
or just like to really get after them. We can tailor a hunt for you.
We can hunt several different states and hunt several different
species of Turkey. Bird-N-Buck has access to over 200,000 acres of
private ranches for Turkey hunting. This enables us to pick and chose
where we are going to hunt based on your preferences. We can hunt the
open prairie to the thick oak woods. We can hunt one ranch or move
around to new country and hunt several different ranches and species
of turkey. Some of our ranches are in two states this allows for the
taking of up to two birds in each state.
Bird-N-Buck offers both guided and unguided
hunts. We will leave for the guided hunts well before daylight, to get
in position to intercept birds that have been roosting all
night. Hunters are positioned as close as possible to the roost
area. As the birds fly down from the roost we will call the birds into
decoys positioned near the hunters. If unsuccessful we then locate
birds by calling and using binoculars from high points on the ranches.
After birds are located we then close the distance and set up to try
and call the birds to our decoys. We hunt for approximately 4-5 hours
then everyone is picked up and taken back for lunch, then we hunt 4-5
hours in the afternoon.
Unguided hunters are furnished with maps and information on the ranch
that they are hunting. They are then on their own to hunt as they
would like. If you bag your birds early, varmint hunting or bass
fishing is available at no charge.
Our weather in April and May consists of cool mornings in the 40's
to 50's with afternoon highs in the 70's. We have an abundance of wind
and can have thundershowers at any time, although they usually do not
last long. Later in the season hunters can expect to have morning lows
from the 50's to afternoon highs in the 80's.
All of our guided turkey hunts include
meals and lodging at the ranch. Guided hunts require a minimum
of 2 days of hunting with extra days easily arranged. If we are
hunting away from one of our lodges we stay in local motels with the
hunter responsible for his room.
Hunters can expect to hear birds daily
and should be able to work several gobblers throughout the day
depending upon weather conditions and the mood of the turkeys. Ticks
are numerous and hunters should check themselves throughout the day.
Hunters should also bring some tick spray, preferably permanone to
repel these critters.
Hunters
should bring 10 or 12 gauge shotguns with full chokes patterned out to
40 yards with either 4, 5, or 6 shot. We can furnish guns if needed.
Full camo including face net along with a light jacket, tick spray,
binoculars, quiet boots, rain gear, camera, ice chest, turkey calls,
flashlight, and hunting license should be included in your packs.
Archers should have the appropriate equipment for turkey.
